Tracked Armoured Personnel Carrier Type ZSD89 is a new generation of armoured personnel carrier developed in recent years. This vehicle is specially used for fighting,   transporting and carrying. It has the capability of higher traveling speed, cross-country performance, certain antiaircraft and protection. It is the basic type with several variants.

It has the following five advantages:

1) Excellent Power System

Tracked Armoured personnel Carrier Type 89 adopts turbo-charged, air-cooled diesel engine BF8L413F, which is produced by introducing the technology of KHD Germany.  The maximum horse power is 320.   The engine has passed strict on the spot exams in desert, the HIGH Plateau and hot moisture area.  It has been sent to the areas of Middle East, South Asia, South East Asia and etc. for camp and field training demonstration many times and won higher opinion from domestic and foreign users.

2) Good Trafficability

Tracked Armoured Personnel Carrier Type 89 uses single-guide-gear track and has the structure of dual road wheel, foreign trader made a comparison test between tills kind of structure and the structure of dual-guid guid-gear and single road wheel of BMP-l the result is that nothing happened to the Tracked Armoured Personnel Carrier Type 89 when it made left and right pivot of  720°but the track of BMP-1 fell off.

3) Reasonable Design method

Fuel tanks of Infantry Fighting Vehicle BMP-1 are all arranged inside tve, which will easy cause second effect and explosion to make greater injuries and deaths when the vehicle is shorted in battle fields.    We solved this problem by arranging the fuel tanks on the rear armour plate outside the vehicle, when we design the Tracked Armoured Personnel Carrier Type 89, which is more suitable to the need of actual combat and meanwhile improve the protective ability.

4) Easy to Be Modified

Up till now, the following variants have been gradually developed on the basis of Tracked Armoured Personnel Carrier Type ZSD89.

Engineering   Reconnaissance Vehicle,   Artillery Reconnaissance Vehicle and Airborn Vehicle will be developed soon.

5) Easy for Logistic Supply

Standardization and systematization have been considered during the design of the vehicle. Most parts of the vehicle are exchangeable with that of the vehicle type 85 and its series, which is convenient for maintenance and logistic supply.
